Language factsheets for humanitarian workers in Greece
Download languages factsheets with useful information about the languages spoken by refugees and migrants in Greece.
In April 2017, Translators without Borders (TWB) analyzed the language and communication barriers that exist in the ongoing migration crisis in Greece. The crisis is characterized by a great diversity of ethnic groups, and languages and dialects spoken by migrants and refugees.
The research showed that humanitarian workers don’t always know what languages the communities that are serving speak, and which languages can be understood by whom. TWB has created detailed language factsheets for aid workers in Greece, with information on Arabic, Dari and Farsi, and Kurdish dialects.
All factsheets are available in English and Greek.
